Dan Sultan recently wrapped up a sold-out solo tour and revealed his new single ‘Hold It Together’, which offered a stirring snapshot of his eagerly awaited forthcoming album.
Titled ‘Killer’, the album is set to be released Friday July 28, shortly after his appearance at this year’s Splendour In The Grass festival.
In support of the release, Dan will be hitting the road for an extensive run of national tour dates throughout September. Visiting 11 venues around Australia, showcasing his new material, gracing the stage with a full band and tour support special guest, William Crighton.
“It’s a whole new show. New music, new band, new vibe. I can’t wait for everyone to see it,” Dan says.
Reflecting on his new album ‘Killer’, “It’s been a long process to make this album, looking back on it all. I’ve spent a long time working on this record.
The ‘Killer’ album was recorded with producer and collaborator, Jan Skubiszewski. It’s a cultured leap forward for the Melbourne singer-songwriter. Lyrically, he’s more reflective – featuring a broader and an in-depth evaluation of life’s ups and downs. The album introduces synthesisers and drum machines lifting powerful rhythms, and heightens emotions accompanied with gospel backing vocals that will take you far beyond the cathedral choirs.
His current single ‘Hold It Together’ and the previously released ‘Magnetic’ is a reflection of Dan Sultan stepping out as the songwriter he was always destined to become. Like the best of Sultan’s song-writing, ‘Hold It Together’ takes a personal anecdote that Dan evolves into a larger narrative. It’s a song that has resonated with a swag of differing ages and tastes: the young and the old; community and the commercial radio listeners.
