Today Dan Sultan releases his new, collaborative EP Killer Under A Blood Moon. The special, 6-track EP is available today and features tracks from Sultan’s ARIA-Award nominated album Killer, reinterpreted by Dan and some of the brightest and most important names in Australian music right now – A.B. Original, Camp Cope, Gang of Youths’ Dave Le’aupepe and Meg Mac.
Recorded live at Red Moon Studios with close friend and producer Jan Skubiszewski, the EP is a testament to the respect Sultan garners in his peers, and adds to his already glowing catalogue of music. Leading up to its release, Sultan has shared a new song weekly with fans, including ‘Drover (Feat. Dave Le’aupepe)’, ‘Reaction (Feat. Meg Mac)’ and ‘Killer (Feat. Camp Cope)’. Each release has been accompanied by a live video from the studio.
The EP rounds off with two unheard glam-bent bonus tracks, ‘Pitchfork’ and ‘Coming Back’, which were written around the time the songs from Killer came to be.
Killer debuted at #5 on the ARIA Albums Chart and received three nominations at last year’s ARIA Awards. It featured on numerous Best Albums of 2017 lists, with lead single ‘Hold It Together’ nominated for APRA’s Song of the Year. It has also garnered Sultan a nomination for Best Independent Blues and Roots Album at this year’s AIR Awards, which will take place on July 26.
Sultan is currently in the midst of an extensive solo tour for Killer, which sees him stripping things back to basics – just himself, his piano and guitar – for an incredible 44 date theatre run nationwide. Limited tickets remain for select shows.

With the arrival of Dan Sultan’s new solo EP, Dirty Ground, the Melbourne muso today backs up the news with an announcement of solo tour dates for February and March.
Dirty Ground bursts with sparse, stunning songs and was recorded in just one day with Jan Skubizewski of Way of the Eagle. It features co-writes with legendary local musicians Paul Kelly, for the title track ‘Dirty Ground’ and ‘On The Leffy’; and Paul Dempsey, for ‘Mountaintop’. Also included on the EP is the poignant ‘Man on TV’, which Sultan wrote whilst in Nashville.
The majority of tracks have been part of Dan’s repertoire for some time – amongst his original demos for Blackbird – but the musician felt they were better suited to a solo release due to their stripped back, raw and emotive nature. They show another side to the ARIA-winning rockstar we’ve come to know through Blackbird.
You can take a look at Dan’s striking live rendition of ‘Mountaintop’ here:
The live version of the EP track was also recorded at the Way of the Eagle Studios.
The Dirty Ground tour will take Dan back on the road in intimate solo mode. The shows will allow him to fully showcase his unique talent as not only a singer and songwriter, but a teller of stories – perfect for fans who would prefer to see him in a close setting, and experience the album and EP in their rawest and most emotive forms.
“I enjoy playing with my band and I also enjoy playing solo. I’m looking forward to getting back on the road with more space on the tour bus.” – Dan Sultan
Opening up the solo shows will be popular folk rockers, Pierce Brothers. The last year has been one wild ride for these local musicians, with their latest EP The Night Tree coming in at #21 on the ARIA Charts. The boys recently sold out five headlining shows in their hometown of Melbourne – an astonishing feat without major radio play or label support.
This tour is proudly presented in association with the GO! Foundation, which Dan serves as an ambassador. The GO! Foundation aims to assist Indigenous Australian youths achieve their goals through education scholarships. A portion of the tour profits will be donated directly to the foundation which was co-founded by Australian of the Year Adam Goodes and Michael O’Loughlin.
In the lead up to the tour, Dan will performed on a bunch of the hottest Summer festivals including the Queenscliff Music Festival, the Falls Festivals in Lorne, Byron Bay and Marion Bay, and the Riverboats Festival in Echuca.
Dan was nominated for five ARIA Awards in 2014, winning the coveted award for Best Rock Album.

DIRTY GROUND EP OUT NOVEMBER 7 2014
Sep 22, 2014
Australia’s most mesmerizing soul songstress Ms Murphy has announced that her new EP ‘Stride’ will be released on October 17th. The first single from the EP, ‘Don’t Let It Go’ is also set for release the same day.
Ms Murphy returned to the studio in mid-2014 to begin work on ‘Stride’, partnering with ARIA award-winning producer Jan Skubizsewski (Cat Empire, Phrase, ILLY). “These new tracks are hopeful and speak of overcoming times in my life when I have been tried and tested,” Ms Murphy explains. “The lyrics revolve around loss, which I’ve learnt leads us to find out how strong we actually are. Life experiences that are isolating are the very thing that connect us all.”
First honing her musical skills in church before blowing away the Australian public on The Voice in 2013, Ms Murphy – stage name of Karen Andrews – has quickly become the defining voice of soul music in Australia. Her unique vocals tell stories of heartache, honesty and uncompromising conviction, and effortlessly leave an impression on listeners.
After making it through to the Top 8 on The Voice, Ms Murphy toured nationally; both solo as well as on tour with her coach Ricky Martin. Ms Murphy also began recording her debut EP, ‘White Dress & the Spirit’ with prominent Australian producer Lance Ferguson (The Bamboos), which quickly moved into the Top 10 iTunes albums chart, thanks in part to the hand-clapping, upbeat, brass heavy rhythms of lead single, ‘Ritual Union’. The release was supported by the sell-out White Dress & the Spirit Tour, played inside iconic venues in NSW and Victoria, such as The Basement and The Toff In Town in the early part of 2014.
With the imminent release of ‘Stride’, audiences are set to experience more from the dynamic performer on tour throughout late 2014. Dates include Australia’s first ever SoulFest, alongside Grammy award winning neo soul, jazz and hip hop icons Maxwell, D’Angelo and Common. The Love Tribe, as Ms Murphy’s fans are affectionately known, is set to expand, as she delivers her world-class soulful style alongside her contemporaries, making her mark and taking it all in her stride, as only she can.
