Unstoppable singer-songwriter Vera Blue has announced today that she will release her debut album, Perennial, on Friday July 21st.
An intensely personal record, Perennial traces the circular pathways between love and loss across its 12 tracks. The album is arranged into three chapters, which chronologically trace the development of Vera Blue; from her very first week writing, raw after the breakdown of a relationship, towards a place of renewed strength and vivacity.
Included on the album is first single ‘Private’, with currently over 2.2 million streams worldwide, and ‘Mended’. The new album introduces a fully-formed Vera Blue, seamlessly synthesizing her folk past with a bold, electronic pop future.
‘“Perennial” is a term for plants that come back year after year, and I like to relate that to memory, feelings and emotions,’ says Vera Blue. ‘It’s what the record is all about; relationships can be very cyclical, or never-ending, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It’s just part of life.’
Recorded between Los Angeles and Sydney, Perennial was written with longtime collaborators Andy and Thom Mak (Boy & Bear, Bertie Blackman, Silverchair) as well as engineer Jackson Barclay. It’s the product of countless hours spent crafting songs in the studio as a team and despite its new sonic elements, the album is underpinned by the classic songwriting that has defined Vera Blue’s musical growth.
Produced by Andy Mak, and most recently co-produced with Grammy-nominated founder of Deep Well Records Adam Anders, Perennial arrives on the eve of Vera Blue’s fast- selling national tour, including her second appearance – and first as a solo artist – at the sold-out Splendour In The Grass in two years.
Perennial sees Vera Blue finding arresting new ways to channel a voice Australia has already fallen for. Unflinchingly honest, it’s the album she had to write, with a sound that is entirely her own.

2015 is off to a racing start for award-winning producer Jan Skubiszewski.
His first major project has been working with Melbourne indie/folk duo Pierce Brothers, who are signed to Warner Music Australia. It’s been a whirlwind 12 months for the Pierce Brothers, with their last EP ‘The Night Tree’ coming in at #21 on the ARIA charts, #1 on the AIR charts and in the Top 10 on iTunes. Currently on a national tour supporting Dan Sultan, the anticipation is high about what’s to come following the brothers’ creative efforts in the studio with Jan.
2015 also sees Jan teaming up with The Cat Empire again, twelve years after he was the assistant engineer on their debut self-titled album, which achieved double platinum status. The band is currently on an international tour, with shows scheduled for the States, Canada, Germany, Spain, Switzerland and the UK.
Rounding out the first three months of this year will be time spent producing soul songstress Ms Murphy‘s new live studio album in Sydney. The album will include two new songs written by Paul Kelly, and a national tour will follow. Ms Murphy has previously released two EPs, White Dress and The Spirit in 2013, and Stride in 2014. Having already charted in the iTunes Top 10, the industry eagerly awaits what will come next following her collaboration with Jan.

Australia’s most mesmerizing soul songstress Ms Murphy has announced that her new EP ‘Stride’ will be released on October 17th. The first single from the EP, ‘Don’t Let It Go’ is also set for release the same day.
Ms Murphy returned to the studio in mid-2014 to begin work on ‘Stride’, partnering with ARIA award-winning producer Jan Skubizsewski (Cat Empire, Phrase, ILLY). “These new tracks are hopeful and speak of overcoming times in my life when I have been tried and tested,” Ms Murphy explains. “The lyrics revolve around loss, which I’ve learnt leads us to find out how strong we actually are. Life experiences that are isolating are the very thing that connect us all.”
First honing her musical skills in church before blowing away the Australian public on The Voice in 2013, Ms Murphy – stage name of Karen Andrews – has quickly become the defining voice of soul music in Australia. Her unique vocals tell stories of heartache, honesty and uncompromising conviction, and effortlessly leave an impression on listeners.
After making it through to the Top 8 on The Voice, Ms Murphy toured nationally; both solo as well as on tour with her coach Ricky Martin. Ms Murphy also began recording her debut EP, ‘White Dress & the Spirit’ with prominent Australian producer Lance Ferguson (The Bamboos), which quickly moved into the Top 10 iTunes albums chart, thanks in part to the hand-clapping, upbeat, brass heavy rhythms of lead single, ‘Ritual Union’. The release was supported by the sell-out White Dress & the Spirit Tour, played inside iconic venues in NSW and Victoria, such as The Basement and The Toff In Town in the early part of 2014.
With the imminent release of ‘Stride’, audiences are set to experience more from the dynamic performer on tour throughout late 2014. Dates include Australia’s first ever SoulFest, alongside Grammy award winning neo soul, jazz and hip hop icons Maxwell, D’Angelo and Common. The Love Tribe, as Ms Murphy’s fans are affectionately known, is set to expand, as she delivers her world-class soulful style alongside her contemporaries, making her mark and taking it all in her stride, as only she can.
